Study and Living Expenses in UAE

Accommodation

Universities in UAE offer accommodation to the students- student dorms and residences. There are other housing options also available for students in UAE, and the charges vary depending on the facilities and location.

There are two main options for accommodation in UAE:

University accommodation: such as halls of residence or student dorms

Private accommodation includes private house and flat rentals/apartments

Accommodation Costs-

Many of the student accommodations in the UAE need a security fund deposit.  The university accommodation expenses in the UAE range from 1,500 to 3,000 AED per month.
For private rented accommodations, you can expect to pay approx. 5000 AED per month.

Tuition Fees

The tuition fees vary considerably between institutions. The higher studies in UAE may cost an individual about 20,000-40,000 AED. Check with each institution you’re applying to about the course fees. 

Living Expenses

The living expenses are high in the United Arab Emirates. Getting around the country is expensive as there is a little public transport. University accommodation is cheaper than take a place on rent. 

International students can expect to pay between AED 3000 and AED 6000 per month inclusive of transport, utilities, food, accommodation and entertainment, depending on their stay- on or off campus.

Getting Around by Cars and Taxis

Students can travel in and around the country by car. Driving licence is available to individuals aged 18 or above. It is easy to find a taxi in the UAE. You can even book a taxi by phone also. 

Getting Around by Public Buses

The buses are well-maintained and air-conditioned. Generally, the front seats are for women and children. You can pay the fare by cash or by the payment cards, such as Nol cards and fare cards (as required).

Travelling In and Around by Trains and Subways

The UAE is expanding its rail network. Metro systems are in operation in some parts of UAE.

Working Conditions

International pupils are currently not permitted to work part-time in the UAE, but they can transfer their study permit to a work visa if offered a job after graduation. 

Health Insurance

International students must get a health insurance in their home country that will cover them while they are studying in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). 

Student Visa
